Tiago Macena and Cláudio Martins want to make "wines without rules".
Last September, we had the opportunity to showcase a project that we are very proud of in an exclusive interview with Público. The "No Rules Wines" brings together winemaker Tiago Macena, wine consultant Cláudio Martins, and António Martins, owner of Quinta de Jugais, in a distinctive project that reflects different terroirs, starting with the Dão region.
This project without rules, which started in 2020, has given birth to its first white wine in March. A Fresh and unoaked wine, unpretentious and made with a blend of Bical, Malvasia Fina, and Encruzado grape varieties, offering a unique taste experience.
The No Rules Wines’ objective is to produce excellent wines from the Dão region and eventually expand to the sub-region of Serra da Estrela, where the project’s founders are from. In the debut year, the producers are planning to make 30,000 bottles under the name “Código”, with plans for future releases. The project also includes a monovarietal Encruzado wine aged in stainless steel and used barrels, with a production of 2,800 liters.
